'TIS THE SEASON. With the recent end of fall sports, a new season is getting underway for the town's athletes of all ages. York Middle School, for example, just started having its own hockey teams this year in the Hawkins Division and Ingals Division. Pictured are Evan Hoatson and Tanner Robinson from the York Middle School Ingals team, which played against Portland on Sunday, Nov. 26, and came away with the win by a score of 8-3.

KELLIE LAJOIE IN STANDOUT FIRST YEAR AT ENDICOTT. Former York High School soccer star Kellie Lajoie finished out a successful freshman year as starting left back for the Endicott College Gulls. Shown here, Lajoie helped Endicott reach the "Sweet 16" of the women's NCAA Division III Soccer Tournament for the first time in the college's history. Lajoie was the only freshman starter for the Gulls, who knocked off Union and Worcester State in the tournament before falling 1-0 to Amherst. Lajoie played full minutes in all three tournament games, and was an anchor for the team throughout the season. Moved to the new position of left back at the start of this, her first college season, the former center midfielder was given the demanding task of marking opponents' top scorers and forwards, and her minutes reflected the confidence shown in Lajoie's abilities by the Gulls' coach, Jodi Kenyon. Endicott finished their season at 19-4-1, and this season marked their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Soon the walls will come tumbling down, and along with them a lot of history. York High School alumni, current students and coaches participated in the two-mile YHS Alumni Race at York Middle School on Nov. 25.
