Shop at school during Dec. 8 event
YORK VILLAGE - Village and Coastal Ridge Elementary Schools will be hosting a special event next week that promises a chance to have a great time and meet some new friends while shopping for that special holiday something right here in the center of town.In fact, this event, which is being organized by the parent groups from both schools, will showcase the many products and services offered by local parents - right here in town.
The holiday fair, which will be held at Village Elementary School on Friday evening, Dec. 8, promises something for everyone, according to its organizers.
The theme is "Stay in Town, Shop at Village" in the hope of encouraging York residents to shop locally, and the evening will also include raffles and a café featuring dessert and coffee.
"The fair is not only providing shoppers with quality products made locally, it is providing parents who own small businesses with free space to exhibit and sell their products and services," the Village Parent Group (VPG) noted in an announcement of the upcoming event.
VPG, which supports Village Elementary School, created the fair as a way to give something back to parents who support the schools throughout the year. The Coastal Ridge Parent Advisory Team (CRES PAT) came on board to help VPG bring the fair to fruition. The fair will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Village Elementary School gymnasium.
The two parent groups work with administrators, teachers, staff and students with a goal of creating a community of giving, sharing and learning.
Some of the goods and services that will be featured at the fair will include jewelry, photography, baskets, scrapbook materials, aromatherapy and skincare items, yarn and felted bags, hand-painted glass and decorations, cooking classes, sign language DVDs, custom framing, children's decorative theme boxes and even those popular WEBKINZ stuffed toys.
And that, those close to the event promise, is just the beginning. You can even learn more about such options as reverse mortgages or check out the latest in interior design at this event.
The café will sell home-baked desserts along with coffee donated by Anthony's Food Shop, and Infinite Imaging is donating a banner for the event.
"We want to thank parents for all the time they have volunteered and money they have contributed to both Village and Coastal Ridge Elementary Schools," said Village Principal Ruth Dealy of next weekend's event. "This holiday fair is our gift to parents who are so integral to our schools' success. It's our way of showing them our appreciation for everything they do."
The VPG and CRES PAT consist of parents and guardians of students at both schools.
