Museum discounts expanded to Portland, Portsmouth and Boston

YORK VILLAGE - Thanks to the generosity of our "Friends" group and a private donor, the York Public Library is able to further engage the community in the joy of learning by offering discount rates at a variety of museums in Portsmouth, Portland, Boston and Ogunquit.

Each Museum offers a slightly different package as described below.

The Children's Museum of Maine in Portland: 50 percent discount for up to four people. The museum offers exciting interactive exhibits for young and older children, including an animal hospital, TV weather studio, touch-tank aquarium and more.

Portland Museum of Art: Free admission for two adults and up to six children. Founded in 1882, the museum houses one of the premier art collections in the state. Special exhibitions in 2007 include retrospectives of N.C. Wyeth and Francisco Goya.

Portsmouth Children's Museum: Reduced admission of $2 per person for up to four people. With engaging and interactive displays that encourage a child's natural curiosity and sense of wonder, exhibits include Space Shuttle, Lobstering, Yellow Submarine and Dino Detective.

Seacoast Science Center: Free admission for two adults and their own children. Situated on 136 acres of coastal woods and tidal pools, the center offers a Gulf of Maine aquarium, touch tanks, interactive history exhibits and guided walks, picnic opportunities.

Boston Children's Museum: Reduced admission of $2 per person for up to four people. Features interactive exhibits focusing on early childhood development through art, science and culture. Please note that the museum will be temporarily closed from January through March.

Museum of Science, Boston: Reduced admission of $5 per person for up to four people. Enjoy cutting-edge science education through a host of exhibits including Dinosaurs, A Bird's World, The Human Body, Butterfly Garden, Planetarium and many more.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts: Reduced admission of $5 per person for up to two people. The museum houses a world-class permanent collection of visual arts, particularly strong in French Impressionism, American decorative arts and painting and classical cultures. Admission to special exhibits is $7 with the pass.

The Ogunquit Museum of American Art: Free admission for up to four people. Widely regarded as one of the nation's finest small museums, this beautifully situated collection highlights nationally known artists with local associations.
