The Ogunquit Playhouse announces commemorative calendar signing

OGUNQUIT - The Ogunquit Playhouse will host a special calendar-signing event for its 75th Anniversary Commemorative Art Calendar, produced in collaboration with the Ogunquit Art Association.

As the two foremost art institutions in Ogunquit, the playhouse and the OAA collaborated on the creation of the calendar. The calendar's 13 pieces of art were created by members of the OAA and selected by independent juror Vicki C. Wright of the University of New Hampshire.

The artists were charged with the task of creating works of art that are representative of the playhouse and/or the performing arts.

The artists represented in the calendar are Patricia Andreotti, Diane Boyce, Eve Corey, Rosalind Fedeli, Ben Grant, Dewitt Hardy, Dustan Knight, Stuart Nudelman, Gail E. Sauter and Fran Scully.

The Ogunquit Playhouse and the OAA have a long association with one another, which began when former playhouse owner, the late John Lane, built an art studio for his wife, Helen MacMillan Lane, a member of the OAA.

By the end of the 1950s, the OAA had outgrown the original studio. John Lane then donated a portion of the playhouse property and in 1959 construction on the Barn Gallery was completed.

The calendar signing will be held at the Dunaway Center during the Christmas by the Sea festivities. Many of the artists, including Diane Boyce, Rosalind Fedeli, Gail E. Sauter, Dewitt Hardy, Dustan Knight and Stuart Nudelman will be on hand during the Chowder and ChocolateFest on Saturday, Dec. 9, to autograph calendars, which will also be available for purchase.

For more information or to order calendars in advance, call 646.5511.

Calendars are also available for sale on the playhouse's website at www.ogunquitplayhouse.org.
