Wildcats name boys' basketball captains, prepare for season opener Friday

YORK - York High Basketball Coach Rick Brault named three-year veterans Phil Alibrandi and Joe Corsello as co-captains to lead this year's boys' team.Also returning from last year's tournament team are seniors Tony Romano and Zach Pruger.
Senior Greg Wilson and sophomore Dan Sheehan also have experience at the varsity level.
Promoted from last year's junior varsity team are seniors Al Blomquist, Pat Cartier, George Zotos and Tim Jones. Rounding out the 12-man roster are juniors Matt Prewitt and Bryce Fountain.
Brault reported, "We have participated in several pre-season scrimmages, all against Class A teams, including Deering, Bonny Eagle and Scarborough, and they showed we need a lot of improvement!"
Brault hesitated to predict how this team will do against Class B opponents, but noted that based on returning players from last years teams, "Greely, Lake Region and Cape Elizabeth should be the strength of our league."
The York Wildcats will open their season with a home game versus Yarmouth this Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. and will host Poland Regional on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
