USM STEINERS TO TAKE THE STAGE. The York High School Choral Program will sponsor a performance by the University of Maine Steiners this Thursday evening, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the York High School Auditorium. The Steiners are USM's oldest a cappella group. Started in the late 1950s, the Steiners are an 11-man group that has won international acclaim and numerous awards in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, while also producing a number of CDs. They have performed across the globe, traveling as far as Budapest and Venice to promote a cappella music. They are recognized for their tight harmonies, diverse repertoire of original arrangements and energetic stage presence.
