HOLIDAY HAPPINESS. York's 8th-grade girls' basketball team won the York Christmas tournament by defeating the Hampton Attack, 36-28. York was led by Stephanie Gallagher with 14 points and Niki Taylor with 10 points. Catie Keenan added six points, Chelsea Morley had four points and Molly Morrison made two free-throws in the win. York defeated the Seacoast Storm in the first round, 38-19. Macki Hill, Meg Hynes and Shelly Potter all scored in the first game. Round two was also a victory over Hampton, and Meagan Morrison scored in the 22-11 win. Basketball

Last Friday, Jan. 5, Wildcats boys' basketball (5-3) had two points on the board before the Lake Region Lakers (2-5) took the floor. The Lady Wildcats (3-5) were on the road in Naples last Friday, Jan. 5, to take on the Lake Region Lady Lakers (6-1) but did not bring any of their home floor magic.

Hockey

The YHS hockey team went 1-1 over the winter break, taking an 8-3 beating from the Biddeford Tigers on Dec. 23 at the Biddeford Arena, but playing for a short-handed 3-1 win over Leavitt on Dec. 27 in Auburn. The YHS hockey team faced both of its biggest rivals this week in long awaited rematches against Cape Elizabeth and Greely. Girls' ice hockey hosted Gorham on Saturday, Jan. 6, and skated away with two wins.

Track

On Friday, Jan. 5, the boys' and girls' indoor track teams opened the season with a rousing victory.
