Fire/Rescue Junior Program to meet Feb. 5
OGUNQUIT - The Ogunquit Fire and Rescue Department has announced the first meeting of he Fire/Rescue Junior Program volunteers will be Monday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.Chief Ed Smith is starting the program to encourage youths between the ages of 15 and 18 to learn about the importance the town's fire department plays in the public safety of local residents.
Smith said in the past many members of the Ogunquit Fire/Rescue Junior Program have pursued a career in firefighting.
The first meeting will be an orientation on the structure of the department, the equipment used by the department and the role of the junior firefighters in the department.
Anyone between the ages of 15 and 18 is encouraged to participate.
