All aboard for Library Film Festival's "The Station Agent"
YORK VILLAGE - The second film in the Winter Film Festival is "The Station Agent," playing this Sunday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m.Winner of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival's Best Drama, Audience Award; Best Screenplay, Tom McCarthy, and Best Performance, Patricia Clarkson, this gentle and humorous movie affectionately shows how proximity, need and coincidence can create the bonds of friendship that change lives.
Fin, played by Peter Dinklage, a loner with a passion for trains, inherits a small abandoned train depot in rural New Jersey and moves in. Despite his efforts to live a solitary life, a local artist, portrayed by Patricia Clarkson; a librarian, played by Michelle Williams, and a friendly Cuban, portrayed by Bobby Cannavale, intrude on his seclusion and an unlikely friendship develops. The movie is rated R and has a running time of 90 minutes.
The Library Film Festival continues March 11 with "The Rocket," the story of an ice hockey legend who struggles to prove to the world that he is a great player, regardless of his size and the language he speaks, and, on April 1, with "Being John Malkovich," a brilliant modern-day comic fantasy that won numerous awards and critical acclaim for its original concept, screenplay, and acting. Shows are at 3 p.m. and admission and popcorn are free, though a $5 donation is suggested.
