Girls' ice hockey to honor seniors

YORK - The girls' ice hockey team lost to Falmouth on Saturday, Feb. 3, by a score of 4-1.

York gave up a power play short-handed and a full-strength goal before Natalie Kaknes cut the lead to 3-1 with six minutes to play. Then York gave up the open net goal with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

The junior varsity team skated past Falmouth 5-0 with goals from Marena Bach, Kellee Cribby, Sara Hanlon, Chrissy Keroack and Emily Wall.

Linnie Blais (2), Aly Sweet, Kelly Landry, Emily Bauman and Cribby assisted on the goals.

Kacey Coffenbury recorded the shutout.

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, the JV team hosted Brewster Academy and Brewster took a 1-0 lead just seven seconds into the game. Keroack tied the game at 1-1 with an assist from Sara Hanlon, but Mead got the game-winner on a breakaway with two minutes to play.

It was York's first loss of the season.

The next girls' ice hockey game is set for this coming Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Rochester Ice Arena in Rochester, N.H., at 1:40 p.m. At that time, the six seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the team.
