The Music Scene...
After years of playing in different blues and rock bands, Karl Heller was struck with the true "Blues Bug," feeling a deep connection to bluesmen such as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Junior Wells, Lightning Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and many others from the heyday of electric blues in the 1950s and 60s. After this realization, Karl formed the Big Hand Blues Band. Around this time, he took a picture of his right hand. In the negative it looked as if a man was waving and smiling back at him. Karl called this image his soul because, to him, it confirmed he had made the right choice.
