Arraignment postponed for shooting victim

By Jennifer L. Saunders

YORK - The York County Superior Court arraignment of a local resident and businessman charged with criminal threatening one week after he was shot in an unrelated incident has been postponed due to medical reasons.

Patrick J. Simpson, 39, of 75 York St., was charged with two counts each of Class C felony criminal threatening with a firearm and Class C felony reckless conduct with a firearm on Jan. 23 and has been free on bail pending a court appearance that had been scheduled for this past Tuesday, Feb. 13.

"His arraignment has been postponed for 30 days for medical reasons," York Police Capt. Kevin LeConte confirmed.

LeConte was unable to comment on a Feb. 8 police incident log notation of a medical aid call to Simpson's York Street residence that state a male subject was taken to York Hospital and subsequently released.

Back on Jan. 16, Simpson suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen in an incident that remains under investigation by local police. Police are also investigating a suspicious fire at one of his businesses.

Simpson was charged one week later after police responded to a call reporting he was holding two men at gunpoint outside his home. Police have confirmed the men had nothing to do with the prior incident and the investigation into the fire and shooting is ongoing.
