Currents in Education
RETRO IS COOL. Retro Bill met with first- and second-graders at Village Elementary School last week, the guest of School Resource Officer Scott Cogger. As an official DARE safety buddy, his mission is to inspire children to make smart and safe choices in every area of their life. He is pictured here as he talks with the students on Thursday, Feb.15, about safety, self-esteem and respect, and shares internet safety tips.

JUMPING FOR JOY. Third- and fourth-grade students at Coastal Ridge Elementary School spent the final day before February vacation getting a workout for a good cause. The students participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart benefit for the American Heart Association, jumping rope in five-minute spurts, on and off, for over 90 minutes. The event was part of the school's "Healthy Heart Unit" on fitness and health. Pictured here, third-grade students celebrate by dancing to "YMCA" after completing the event on Friday, Feb. 16.
