EVERYTHING MOST GO, according to a sign at York's Stop N Go Video, located in the Long Sands Plaza. A longtime York business, the video store is closing its doors for good on March 31. The sign on the window promises customers that if they can get it out of the store they can buy it, including movies. The reason for the store's closing was not available at press time. A store employee was unable to comment on the closing, and repeated attempts to reach the store's manager were unsuccessful.

Weeks have passed since Gov. John Baldacci first unveiled his Local Schools, Regional Support plan to Maine communities and school districts, but the passage of time is not making the plan any more palatable to local leaders. For the second time in as many years, a York Water District employee has taken top honors in the Annual Maine Water Utilities Association Photo Contest. With the unexpected resignation of Selectman Torbert Macdonald, Jr., last week due to illness, discussions of the upcoming May election have come to the forefront in town. Margaret Wilson's eyes have seen more than a century of sunrises and sunsets, and they still shine when she speaks of her life. It was not a decision that came easily for Annette Fazio. The Budget Committee's line item by line item review of the proposed fiscal 2008 town and school budgets continues this week in preparation for a scheduled vote set for this Saturday, Feb. 24. For these kids, school vacation will mean a lot of work, but they don't seem to mind. State Conservationist Joyce Swartzendruber of the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced that $100,000 is available in new grants to Maine farmers; landowners; state, tribal and local government entities, and non-governmental organizations.

Local police arrested a man wanted in New Hampshire for failing to register as a sex offender. York Police Animal Control has received a couple of reports about animals left out in the extreme cold this week.
