Helena Carpenter
YORK HARBOR - Helena M. (Shorey) Carpenter, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, peacefully, in Sentry Hill with her family members at her side.She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Enfield, Maine, daughter of William V. and Myrtle (Ewing) Shorey. In 1938 she married her husband, Henry J. Carpenter of Lincoln, Maine, and together they lived in Dayton, Ohio, for several years before moving to York.
Mr. Carpenter died in 1971.
She leaves a son, Gerald H. Carpenter and his wife, Carole Carpenter of Auburn, Wash.; two daughters, Nancy Sinclair and her husband, Martin Sinclair of Lisbon, N.H., and Ruth Doten and her husband, Glenn Doten of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Burleigh V. Shorey of Milford, Maine, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Barbara Marie and Ona Jenkins, and a brother, William B. Shorey, predeceased her.
She was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in York.
The memorial service for Mrs. Carpenter will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, in the First Parish Congregational Church. Burial will be in the First Parish Cemetery in the spring.
