SKATING INTO THE PLAYOFFS - York Middle School boys' hockey lost a well-played game by a score of 1-0 on Sunday, Feb. 25, against Scarborough. The game, which was played at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham, was the York Ingals team's last regular season game, and they go into the playoff next weekend. Pictured is Eric Warner handling the puck. Also pictured are Tanner Robinson and Wesley Warner during the game. Meanwhile, the York Middle School girls' team was scheduled to play at North Yarmouth Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. Although that game occurred after press time, the game was already being hailed as "The First Ever Girls' Middle School Game in Maine" by the NYA coach.

Basketball

The memory of former York Police Officer Charlie Brown lives on in the 17th Annual Charlie Brown Memorial Basketball Classic. York Kiwanis and Ocean National Bank will be hosting some very special guests this coming Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at York High School as the Harlem Rockets face off against York's very own Dream Team in a basketball game not to be missed. Last Tuesday, Feb. 20, the York High School Wildcats lost in a Western Maine Class B quarter-final game at the Portland Expo to the Cape Elizabeth Capers, by the final score of 61 to 50.

Hockey

The girls' ice hockey team wrapped up its regular season with three games last week including back-to-back games with number two-ranked Lewiston Blue Devils. The York High School boys' hockey team was proud to celebrate its six seniors last Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Biddeford Arena.

Rugby

The Seacoast Rugby Club U19 boys' and girls' teams are looking for new players for the spring season.

Baseball

It may not really look like spring outside, but the first signs of the season are upon us with the announcement that York Little League is gearing up for its baseball and softball player evaluations.

Recreation

The Robert Mackey Skate Park is now open for anyone with a pair of ice skates and a determination to have some fun.
