YORK - York Kiwanis and Ocean National Bank will be hosting some very special guests this coming Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at York High School as the Harlem Rockets face off against York's very own Dream Team in a basketball game not to be missed.

The Harlem Rockets are a talented group of basketball entertainers who combine incredible athletic skills with hilarious comedy. On Tuesday, they will face the York "Dream Team" in a game benefiting the efforts of the York Kiwanis Club.

Having played over 1,700 games in 11 years without a single defeat, the Harlem Rockets offer something for everyone to enjoy. Sports enthusiasts will be intrigued by the general athleticism and size of the Rockets players - including seven-foot-tall Rick the "Rim Rocker" Lopes from Duquesne.

Basketball aficionados will be dazzled by the ball-handling wizardry of Johnny "Magic" Dadzi of Southern Illinois, satiated by the floor game of Donnie "Razzmatazz" Seale of North Carolina State, and left awestruck by the high-flying dunks by Alexander "Skywalker" Howard of Virginia State.

And since this is comedy basketball, the Harlem Rockets boast not one but two engaging and natural comedians for those who just want to have fun.

Everyone - except for maybe the referee - laughs at the banter and ear-to-ear grins of headliner Kevin "Showboat" Jackson and the silly and improvisational antics of Dwayne "Swoop" Simpson. Standing 6 feet, 6 inches tall and 6 feet, 7 inches tall, respectively, these two young talents can also "lace them up" when necessary.

The Harlem Rockets incorporate the audience, and especially children, into the show and are always available to meet the fans and give autographs at halftime and after the game.

In this special event to raise money for the York Kiwanis Club, York's own Dream Team has graciously agreed to face the undefeated Harlem Rockets. Dream Team members include York Public Library Director Robert Waldman and Justin Lewis, a York High School alumnus.

Town Assessor Rick Mace is organizing the team, and confirmed there may still be a slot or two left on the roster for basketball aficionados who would like to represent the town in this fun-for-all game. Those interested may contact Mace at 363-1005.

Tickets are just $8 for what promises to be a fun-filled evening for the entire community. Tickets are available at Lontine Insurance Company, the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce, York Parks and Recreation Department and at the door prior to the event.
