Little League player evaluations begin March 11
YORK - It may not really look like spring outside, but the first signs of the season are upon us with the announcement that York Little League is gearing up for its baseball and softball player evaluations.Player registration is currently open online via York Little League's website, www.yorklittleleague.net.
Baseball player evaluations will be held Sunday, March 11, at York Sports Center on Route 1 with League Age 8 from 8 to 9 a.m.; League Ages 9 and 10 from 9 to 10:45 a.m., and League Ages 11 and 12 from 10:45 a.m. to noon. No evaluation is necessary for League Ages 13 to 16.
Please note that eight-year-olds must be evaluated, for safety reasons, to be placed on a Minor League team. All nine- through 12-year-olds who are not already on a Major League Baseball team must also be evaluated to be placed on a Major League team. Those not wanting to be evaluated will be placed on a Minor League team, but 12-year-olds may only participate at the Major League level.
Softball player evaluations will also be held Sunday, March 11. at York Sports Center on Route 1, with League Ages 7 and 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and League Ages 9 through 12 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. No evaluation is necessary for League Ages 13 through 16.
Please note that all nine- through 12-year-olds who are not already on a Major League softball team must be evaluated to be placed on a Major League team. Seven- and eight-year-olds will participate in the Minor League softball program only. Nine-year-olds are also eligible for the Minor League program.
For baseball and softball, all participants must arrive 15 minutes early to register and receive an evaluation number.
Hardship player evaluations are scheduled for Saturday, March 17, at the York Middle School gymnasium.
