The Dragon Lair Tournament is the largest submission grappling tournament in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.
Kawczynski won his first match by submission with the guillotine choke. In the second match, he won by submission also with the rear choke.
In the battle that ensued for first place, Kawczynski lost by points, not submission, to Christopher Colon of the Dragon Lair Academy.
Kawczynski credited his success to his three different coaches. Ed Sheehan teaches him Gracie Jiu-Jitsu; Woody Weatherby, the current Combat Zone champion, teaches him MMA, and Chris Goduti of Grappler X in Bow, N.H., teaches him submission fighting and MMA.
Anybody interested in training or competing in submission grappling tournaments or training for MMA may contact Goduti of Grappler X at (603) 300-7122 for more details.
