Rena Johnston
YORK BEACH - Rena M. (Shaw) Johnston, 94, of 54 Broadway, died, Monday, March 19, 2007, in York Hospital.She was born July 26, 1912, in Danforth, daughter of William J. and Sadie (Davis) Shaw. Rena graduated Valedictorian from Bingham High School, Class of 1930. Rena had worked in the comptroller department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and later worked for both York Beach and York Police Departments for many years.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, James Johnston; a stepson, Robert W. Johnston, and his wife, Jacqueline L. Johnston of Gouldsboro; many special nieces and nephews including Maureen and Christopher Shaw, Daryl Shaw, Sashi and Terry Parekh, and close friends and families of Gary and Maureen Finley, Dan and Christie Fitzgerald as well as Ron and Marilyn Grenier.
Four brothers, William "Jack" Shaw, Steven Shaw, Donald Shaw and Kenneth Shaw predeceased her.
The funeral service for Mrs. Johnston will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, in the Union Congregational Church, York Beach. Burial will take place in the First Parish Cemetery in the spring.
