Seacoast Rugby U19 and adult teams under way

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - The Seacoast Rugby Club has begun full operations for the spring season.

Both the U19 and senior teams have begun practicing and this is a good time for new players to join.

The Seacoast Rugby Club was formed in Portsmouth in 1998. Players come from southern Maine the Seacoast of New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts.

The U19 teams accept players from 14 to 18 years of age. The U19 season runs from early spring to early June. U19 boys' and girls' teams are always looking for new players.

Senior men's and women's teams accept players 18 and up and there is even an "old boys" team for 35-plus.

No experience is necessary; new players are trained in all aspects of the game including tackling, rucking, mauling and rules.

Football, hockey, soccer, and basketball players will find some of their skills are transferable to rugby.

Interested players may just show up at a practice or may contact the teams.
