Arrows Restaurant opens for 20th season

OGUNQUIT - Arrows Restaurant will open on Saturday, April 7, for its 20th season.

Nominated this spring by the Beard Foundation as Best Chefs of the Northeast, co-owners/co-chefs Clark Frasier and Mark Gaier have announced plans for an exciting array of Wine Maker dinners, Cooking Class dinners and Chef Travel dinners as accents to the daily celebration of delicious cuisine and elegant dining that have been the restaurant's special mission for the last 19 years.

Set amidst its own two acres of flower, herb and vegetable gardens and housed in a 1700s farmhouse, Arrows Restaurant continues to offer what has been called one of the most exceptional dining experiences available in the country.

Last year, "Gourmet" editor Caroline Bates wrote, "In Arrows' lush and sensuous plates, I taste a synthesis of California, New England and Asia. Arrows is closer to a three-star experience in France than the Stars-inspired brasserie the chefs originally intended."

In October 2006, Arrows was named the 14th best restaurant in the U.S. by "Gourmet Magazine," claiming that "the cooking of chef-owners Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier startles and delights," and in December 2006, "Bon Appetit" carried the chefs' menu and recipes for "A Splendid Christmas Dinner."

In 2005, the restaurant was awarded a score of 98 - the highest score ever given by the Phantom Gourmet.

In 2003 and 2004, Arrows, and its newly published cookbook, "The Arrows Cookbook; Cooking and Gardening from Maine's Most Beautiful Farmhouse Restaurant," received tremendous national recognition.

Featured in "O, the Oprah Magazine," "Down East," "Yankee" and "The Boston Globe" in April, June and August, the restaurant appeared in "Time" magazine and was described by "The Maine Sunday Telegram" as "an enchanting place to savor a fabulous meal and a standard-bearer among Maine's best restaurants."

The chefs have made numerous appearances on "The Today Show."

The magic of Arrows grows more beautiful with every year. A new and splendid series of Arrows Classics dinners will begin with a very special Easter Dinner on Sunday, April 8, serving from 1 to 6 p.m. for $75 per person.

This year, also, Arrows' chefs announce the continuation of Bistro Nights, offering a robust three-course dinner at $39.95 every Friday during the spring and fall.
