OPA to present classic movie musical on April 11
Robert Morse recreates his Tony-winning stage role in this 1967 film version of Frank Loesser's Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical.
Morse plays the charming and scheming young window-washer who wangles his way to the top of the executive heap with the help of the book, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
This musical sings the praises of "Big Business" while poking great satirical fun at the American way. Although advised by the mailroom supervisor to keep a low profile, Morse as J. Pierpont Finch follows his own skewed set of rules, capturing the heart of a pretty office worker played by Michele Lee and the admiring eye of the president, portrayed by Rudy Vallee, all in the morning of his second day of work.
The movie showcases the tunes of the great Frank Loesser including "I Believe in You," "Rosemary," "The Company Way" and "It's Been a Long Day."
Don't miss "How to Success in Business Without Really Trying," the eighth in the current Classic Film Series.
The film will be show at the Dunaway Center on Wednesday evening, April 11, at 7 p.m. There will be pre- and post-video discussions led by Norman Wilkinson of Ogunquit Performing Arts. There is plenty of free parking and admission is free.
