Duchess

Duchess
AWS presents the Duchess of West Kennebunk. My name is Duchess, and I am a three-year-old spayed Rottweiler who was surrendered by my family because they were moving and could not bring me along. I have previously lived with cats, though they need to know a little about dogs. I will chase if they move quickly. If you have a dog living at your house, bring him or her to the shelter. The staff can do a dog introduction to see if we can live together. I do get along with some dogs. I am not used to being handled, especially by younger kids. If there are children living with you I prefer children over ten who can understand that need. I am quite housetrained. I also am crate-trained. Obedience classes, which are offered here at the shelter, are a great way for you and me to spend time together and for me to relearn commands and to have a job to do. I have been described by the staff at the shelter as a very happy dog. I will be even happier once you come to the shelter and take me home. Don't miss out on this most royal addition to your family.

Kawaji

Kawaji
Handsome kitty alert! Would you believe that I don't have a home to call my very own? I used to live on the streets of Biddeford after I lost my family. I'm very happy that I'm here at the shelter so I can find my forever home. I am a three-year-old boy who is very loving. Hi, I'm Kawaji. I am a sociable guy who enjoys being petted. You can't really tell by my picture, but I have double paws. Did you know that we walk on our tiptoes? If you would like a cat who is not only handsome, but is gentle and a social guy, then stop by and we can get to know you. I promise you will fall in love with me!

Bert and Ernie

Bert and Ernie
Hi there, we are Bert and Ernie. We are two degus, who are looking for our forever home. We get confused all the time with gerbils, because we look similar. We really are bigger and are related to the chinchillas. We are also known as Chilean squirrels because we tend to act a lot like squirrels. We are very social guys, who love to go around and around on our wheel in our cage. Bert and I really enjoy taking sand baths, just like chinchillas. I know it sounds funny, but it is so refreshing and it helps keep our fur clean. Did you know that you shouldn't pick us up by our tails? As part of our natural defense from our enemies in the wild, if picked up by our tails we lose the end. In time, we can learn to walk into our person's hand so we can be petted. The shelter staff has more information about our care. If you would love, in your life, two sociable, friendly and curious degus, then please come to shelter for a visit.
