Bernie

Bernie
Not Lassie, not quite - better than Lassie, really. I'm Bernie, the rough collie mix, waiting to find my way into your home and be part of your family. I've had a long road to here, actually. I came from the South as part of the Paws Across America program. No one wanted me in the South, so I am hoping that Northerners, particularly you Mainers, who know about collies and appreciate them, will come to the shelter and take me home. I am an adult neutered male. I was only recently neutered and need my new family to understand that I am still learning that I do not need to mark my territory. I was adopted once, but returned because I was not a good match with another animal in the house. If you have a dog at home already, please bring him or her to the shelter to meet me. The staff will properly introduce us and see if we are a good match. If you have a submissive female at home that would be the best match. Due in part to my breed, high herding and prey drive, I cannot live with cats. If you have kids, I need kids old enough to understand that I have not had a charmed life and need to have my personal space with food and treats. I have food aggression, but the staff can teach you and the kids the Trade-Up Game to manage and minimize this behavior. We are all winners in that game! Like many herding dogs I have a great mind and catch on to routines quickly. It is hard to tell, especially at the shelter, if I am completely housetrained, but with a routine I should catch on quickly. I would like to show you how smart I am by going to obedience classes with you. My manners will become more refined and obedience commands will be reinforced. I will be ready to be at your service just like Lassie. Come see me at the shelter soon.
Byron

Byron
Hi there! My name is Byron. I am in need of a loving home where I can shower my person with all sorts of love and they will love me for who I am. I am a nine-year-old neutered male who is tolerant and sweet. In my previous home I lived with both men and women and was allowed outside a couple of times a week. I really enjoy being with people and being petted. I also enjoy being brushed and, of course, playing! Would you believe my favorite thing is meeting people? I sure have met a lot of people since I came to the shelter. If I come live with you I can be your official greeter when all your family and friends come to visit. That would be fun, don't you think? I am a friendly, smart guy, who is very loving and really would like to find my forever home. Do you think I could come live with you? Stop by for a visit and let's see if we are meant for each other!
Edmond

Edmond
I am Edmond, a four-month-old, very handsome light-chocolate colored bunny boy. I was abandoned here at the shelter, and I am looking for my home in the world. I'm a very curious and intelligent bunny. I'm interested in seeing what you are doing, observing my surroundings and seeking out hidey-holes for my nap. You really can't tell how soft my fawn fur is until you actually hold me in your gentle hands. I do like to be held, and it doesn't take me very long to know that I can trust you to snuggle me. When I'm in your lap, look out because I'll crawl up your chest and nestle into your neck. I am really looking forward to having a family. I've not known much outside the shelter, and while they're very good to me here, I'm ready to come home!
