YORK HARBOR - Phyllis F. Hosmer, 88, of Two Victoria Court and formerly of Greenfield, Mass., died Sunday, April 8, 2007, in York Hospital.

She was born July 9, 1918, in Barre, Mass., daughter of Clarence M. and Helen (Hunt) Fielding. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1936 and attended Colby Junior College in New London, N.H. She had worked as a secretary for Millers Falls Tool Co. and also for Attorney Maurice Levy.

She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield, the Board of Organized Work of Franklin Medical Center and also a member of the Carnation Club. Her family and friends were of the utmost importance to her. She will be remembered as a woman of impeccable taste who took great pride in her home, her gardens and her antique collection.

Her husband of 62 years, Walker J. Hosmer, died in 2004

She leaves a daughter, Joan H. Griffith of Plainfield, N.H.; two sons, David W. Hosmer of Greenfield, Mass., and Philip H. Hosmer and his wife, Karen, of York; a sister, Sylvia Hurlburt of S. Yarmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren, Robert Griffith and his wife, Lyndee, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Joel Griffith and his wife, Jennifer, of Columbia Falls, Mont., James Griffith of Baltimore, Md., Matthew Hosmer and Jenna Hosmer, both of York; one great-granddaughter, Ella Simone Fielding Griffith; two step great-granddaughters, Brooke and Kelly Yokoyama, and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Norman Fielding of Williamstown, Mass.

She will be greatly missed by Zorro, her favorite canine.

A memorial service for Mrs. Hosmer will be held in the Second Congregational Church, Greenfield, Mass., at a later date. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in Green River Cemetery.
