Rita Buxton

BEDFORD, N.H. - Rita May Buxton, 81, formerly of York, Maine, died on Saturday, April 21, 2007, in the Ridgewood Nursing Facility, Bedford, N.H.

Rita was the daughter of Lucy and Joseph Bisson, born on Jan. 16, 1926 in Milford, N.H.

Rita graduated from Saint Joseph's Nursing School in Nashua, N.H., completing her active training at Boston's Floating Hospital, as a registered nurse.

In 1948 she married the late Harry Royal Buxton, who died in 1996.

Rita and Harry were among the founding members of "Monadnock Workshop," which creates working venues for the handicapped in the Peterborough area.

Rita belonged to St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church in York, and was active in choir, Ultreya, Cursillo and other church functions.

Her hobbies included dancing, bridge, piano, rug-braiding, and 48 years of good times with her husband, Harry.

After retiring from hospital work, she remained active as a home health nurse for seniors.

Surviving Rita are her daughter Susan, her sons, Alan, Cary, Scott and Jon, and her two grandchildren, Brice and Amelia.

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, April 24, in St. Christopher's Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Milford, N.H.
