Lady Wildcats swamp Traip, 14 to 1

By Stan Ross

YORK - The Lady Wildcats (1-2) opened their home season on a winning note last Thursday, April 26, when they defeated the Traip Lady Rangers, 14 to 1, in a game shortened to five innings by the "mercy" rule.

Lissy Enright and Linnie Blais shared the pitching chores for York and Becky Enright, Alex Haight, Lissy Enright, Glenn Swanson and Jolene Ciampa all had base hits.

One day earlier, the Lady Wildcats lost by a score of 3 to 1 on April 25 after they took the long bus ride to Naples to face the always tough Lake Region Lady Lakers.

York scored a single run in the first and Becky Enright pitched a solid game, but the Lady Wildcats were held to just three hits.

Kim Rivet had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice to lead the Lakers.

Swanson did the catching for York.

The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play their next three games on the road at Freeport on May 2, Cape on May 4 and Yarmouth on May 7.
