Several races uncontested at the polls
YORK - For several races to be decided at the polls on May 19, just enough candidates filed paperwork to fill the current seats.
In most cases, those races involve incumbent candidates seeking to return to the seats they currently hold.
For the York Water District and York Sewer District Boards of Trustees and the Town Treasurer's post, only the incumbents - Water District Trustee Ed Walsh, Sewer District Trustee Bob Hoyt and Town Treasurer Margaret McIntosh - are on the ballot.
Frederick Boardman, Jr., meanwhile, is running to fill the one year remaining in the term of Nancy Eaton, who is resigning as of the May election due to work and family commitments.
Also for the Budget Committee, Steve Samborski and Charles Steedman are the only candidates who filed their nomination papers for the two three-year terms available on the board. However, Stephanie Vallee has since begun a write-in campaign for one of the seats.
Absentee ballots are available at Town Hall and voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 19 at York High School.
