Headlines from York and Ogunquit, Maine

JUST MOOSIN’ AROUND. Maine may be known for its moose population, but York is usually recognized for its views of lighthouses and ocean surf. On Sunday, May 6, however, this moose decided May would be a good time to visit the seaside and paid a visit to Western Point. During its journey, the moose stopped here, near the home of Lynn O’Neill.

Town and school officials have a message for Augusta. The York Beach Renaissance came to life on Monday afternoon when Peggy and Robert "Bob" Fennelly celebrated the grand reopening and redesign of Bill and Bob's among a crowd of well-wishers that included local officials and Gov. John Baldacci. On Friday, May 4, the Maine Legislature's Education and Cultural Affairs Committee failed to pass a motion that would have defeated proposed legislation submitted by the town of Ogunquit to change the school funding formula for the Wells-Ogunquit School District.
