YORK LAX FIGHTS HARD. After leading the entire game, the York High School boys’ lacrosse team lost a hard-fought battle to Freeport by a score of 16-13 last Thursday, May 17. Scoring for the Wildcats were Cam Dillon with four goals and two assists, Dan Powers with three goals and three assists, Alex Quinn with two goals and one assist, Tony Romano with two goals, and Corey Borgel and Justin Gallant with one goal each. The track team gets to hold on to the Governor's Cup for another year.

Baseball/Softball

On Monday, May 21, the monsoon season had ended and the sun was out, the field was dry, but the Wildcats' bats were still soggy. On Monday, May 21, the Falmouth Yachtsmen (7-5) sailed into town and, paced by the five-hit pitching of John Wilson (1-0), outraced the Wildcats (4-7) by the final score of 7-2. Despite the month’s uncooperative weather, there has been plenty of Little League action for both the major and minor teams in town.

Road Race

The York Parks and Recreation Department and York Hospital will host the annual York Hospital 5K Road and Cross Country Race on Saturday, June 2.
