York Police Department Incident Log
Saturday, May 12
8:27 p.m. A Leavitt Farm Lane resident reported that a Social Security card, a Maine driver's license, and two health insurance cards were taken sometime between April 24 and May 12. She believed that the items may have been taken out of her purse while she was teaching at York Middle School.
Sunday, May 13
6:54 p.m. An employee of the Nubble Light Gift Shop at Sohier Park reported that an elderly man came into the shop and grabbed her arm while she was working and tried to get her to go with him. The man was described as between 70 and 75 years of age, approximately 5'6" tall, balding with age spots, and small in overall weight.
Monday, May 14
9:30 p.m. A 1993 pickup truck operated by Jeremy B. Thompson, 29, 362 Emery's Bridge Road, South Berwick, left Ogunquit Road and went into a deep ditch. The driver left the scene without reporting the accident. Police found a partially full beer bottle under the vehicle and a pornography magazine on the floor of the driver's side with a ripped page. Thompson was subsequently charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to notify police of an accident by quickest means.
Tuesday, May 15
8:03 a.m. A York resident reported a burglary from a motor vehicle that he believed happened while the vehicle was parked at Bog Road field while he was watching his son's lacrosse game. Items reported taken included a cell phone valued at $75, and $100 cash and credit cards from a wallet.
9:22 a.m. A 16-year-old York male was charged with possession of tobacco products at York High School.
11:08 a.m. Maura Mendoza, 40, 64 Long Sands Road, York, was charged on two warrants for negotiating a worthless instrument, two warrants for assault, one warrant for refusing to submit to arrest or citation, one warrant for failure to appear for theft of services bail, and one warrant for failure to pay a fine for an operating under the influence conviction, and brought to York County Jail with bail set at $1,600.
A 2001 Toyota sedan last operated by Martha E. Hunter, 56, 9 ½ Cottage Lane, Watertown, a 2005 van operated by Mohsen Shayanifar, 50, 18 Casco Street #23A, Portland, owned by Sherwood Enterprises in Portland, were in collision in a parking lot on Shore Road. The Toyota, which was parked and unoccupied, received an estimated $800 in damages, and the van received an estimated $100 in damages.
3:30 p.m. A 2005 Toyota sport utility vehicle operated by Joanna P. Weston, 47, 8 Hickory Lane, York, and a 1998 Ford sedan operated by Shelley L. McCarthy, 52, 47 Blue Hill East, Bangor, owned by Shelley McCarthy, 500 Ledgewood Drive K2, Kittery, were in a rear-end collision at the intersection of Spur Road and Route 1. The Toyota received an estimated $400 in damages, and the Ford received an estimated $300 in damages.
4 p.m. A 1988 Dodge pickup truck operated by a 16-year-old York male, owned by Douglas Blaisdell, 51 Southside Road, York, received an estimated $1,000 in damages when it left Southside Road, and struck a mailbox and telephone pole.
Wednesday, May 16
1:26 a.m. Mehran Shahsavri, 67, 14 Front Street #17, Marblehead, Mass., was charged with operating while license suspended or revoked. She is scheduled to appear in York District Court August 9.
Thursday, May 17
1 p.m. A 2004 Freightliner rental truck operated by Matthew Ricker, 8a Devyn Drive, Chichester, N.H., owned by Ryder Truck Rental, Manchester, N.H., received an estimated $2,000 in damages when it struck the Lobster Barn sign on Route 1 after it pulled into the parking lot to turn around.
11:42 p.m. Jordan M. Hickey, 19, 4 Dolly Brook, York, was charged with possession of a useable amount of marijuana on Southside Road. He is scheduled to appear in York District Court July 5.
Friday, May 18
2:39 a.m. Sam Clayton Tartleton, 19, 31 Cherry Lane, Ogunquit, was charged with sale/use of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in York District Court July 5.
11:10 p.m. A 1994 Honda sedan operated by Scott Lizotte, 19, 22 Caincrest Drive, York, owned by Timothy Colwell, P.O. Box 166, Lebanon, received an estimated $9,000 in damages when it left Cider Hill Road, struck a large boulder, flipped over onto its roof and slid 30 yards down into a ditch.
11:30 p.m. Meghan McGee, 22, 14 Ladd St., Portsmouth, N.H., was charged with operating while license suspended or revoked, failure to produce evidence of insurance and possession of a suspension writing on Route 1. She is scheduled to appear in York District Court August 9.
Saturday, May 19
11:30 a.m. A 1996 Saturn station wagon operated by Janet L. Papa, 41, 324 Long Sands Road, York, received an estimated $400 in damages when it was struck by an unknown vehicle while both vehicles were backing out of parking spaces in the Cumberland Farms parking lot on York Street. The other vehicle left without stopping.
12:20 p.m. A 2007 Subaru station wagon operated by Elizabeth J. Munro, 79, 8 Ash Lane, York, received an estimated $8,500 in damages when it left Mallard Drive, struck a tree, several small shrubs, a fence, garden plants and outdoor lights, stopping when it struck a ditch embankment.
12:25 p.m. A 2000 Honda sedan operated by Ann M. Leuzarder, 88, 89 Goodwin Road, Kittery Point, received an estimated $3,000 in damages it struck a curb, steel post with handicap sign, backed across a lane and struck a parked 2003 Hyundai sedan last operated by Thomas G. Costa, 58, 11 Alan Dale Drive, Medford, Mass., owned by Marguerite M. Costa of the same address, continued backing up and struck a parked 2004 Volvo sedan last operated by Constance Beane, 62, 35 Collins St., Danvers, Mass., owned by Volvo Finance of North America of Atlanta, Ga.
Sunday, May 20
7:13 a.m. A resident of Mary Street reported the theft of a silver female wedding ring valued at $2,400, a male silver wedding ring valued at $100, a pearl necklace valued at $100, a gold necklace valued at $100, a green iPod valued at $250 and a large water bottle filled with $500 in coins.
