Eat out and support the York Public Library with "Food for Thought"
YORK VILLAGE - For the third year in a row, York Public Library and Stonewall Kitchen have teamed up to present the delicious community fundraiser known as "Food for Thought."
Throughout the day and evening of June 7, whether you stop by the Village Scoop in York Village for an ice cream cone, grab a sandwich at Stonewall Kitchen Café or dine elegantly at On the Marsh in Kennebunkport, you can enjoy some of the Seacoast's finest culinary treats and support the library's many programs and ever-expanding book, CD and DVD collections.
Since all participating restaurants donate a percentage of their proceeds from June 7 to the library, this is a fun way to support the library while finding a wonderful excuse for a night - or afternoon - out on the town.
"We are very pleased once again to join with the library in this wonderful community event," said Stonewall Kitchen Co-owner Jim Stott. "Food for Thought is a natural - just as good food nourishes the body, a good book and an interesting speaker or program nourishes the soul. This is a wining combination. What could be better?"
And an array of local eateries are joining in the fun, including Stonewall Kitchen Café, The Lobster Barn, The Village Scoop, On the Marsh, The Inn at Long Sands, Greenleaves Chinese Restaurant and Chapman Cottage.
The number of participating restaurants continues to grow each day. For the most up-to-date list please visit www.york.lib.me.us and look for the familiar green "Food for Thought" poster at participating restaurants.
Plan a lunch date, an evening out or a mid-afternoon snack and it's all great food for a great cause.
Once you've chosen which restaurant to visit on June 7, just sit back and let the "Food for Thought" restaurants do the rest. It's a terrific way to start off the season.
