New Ogunquit officers graduate from police academy
OGUNQUIT - Among the state's 60 newest police officers are two members of the Ogunquit Police Department.
The Ogunquit officers are Matthew Begin and Gretchen Paxton.
Earlier this month, the officers have graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy after 18 weeks of study and training. Among the topics studied by the new officers were criminal and traffic law, domestic violence and sexual assault response, firearms, first aid, crime scene processing and emergency vehicle operation.
The keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony was Maine District Court Chief Judge John Nivison.
In addition to the Ogunquit officers, the graduates include seven state troopers, three new Maine Marine Patrol Wardens, Kennebunk Police officers Michael Tucci and Mark Vaughan, North Berwick officer Marc Laflamme and Wells officers Adam Shaw and Justin Titcomb.
