York Police Department will be "Fueling Dreams" on June 2

By Jennifer L. Saunders

YORK - Local law enforcement officials will be serving the public in a different way this Saturday.

That's because it's time for the annual "Fueling Dreams" car wash benefit for Special Olympics Maine.

This Saturday, June 2, York Police Department officers and staff will be on hand at Irving on Route 1 in York to pump gas, wash and vacuum cars as part of this special annual fundraiser.

This is an event for the entire family, which will feature special giveaways and refreshments, including hamburgers and hot dogs.

In addition to the commitment from the York Police Department to fuel up cars to help the cause, Irving has also agreed to donate 5 cents of every dollar of gas purchased that day to Special Olympics Maine to help challenged individuals in Maine live out their dreams.

If you are unable to make it to Irving on Saturday, donations may also be made online care of York Police Officers Tyler Hathorne and John Lizanecz at www.firstgiving.com/thathorne and www.firstgiving.com/jlizanecz.

All donations made online or at the event will benefit Special Olympics Maine.

For more information, contact Hathorne or Lizanecz at 363-4444.
