York County Community College receives $25,000 grant from Hannaford
WELLS - On Thursday, May 24, the Hannaford Charitable Foundation presented York County Community College and its foundation with a $25,000 grant in support of a new building to house the Entrepreneurial and Business Services Center.
This gift is part of the college's Partners Enriching Lives major gifts campaign that is raising funds to expand programs, services and scholarships for the York County community.
"The Hannaford Charitable Foundation is pleased to lend its support to the Partners Enriching Lives capital campaign and the college's commitment to continuing education," said Wells Hannaford Store Manager Andrew Goldberg.
The Entrepreneurial and Business Services Center will provide expanded programs and services to area businesses and individuals who wish to start a new business or those entrepreneurs who wish to expand their current business. The additional space on the college's campus in Wells will help address the skills of the county's workforce and its economic development potential.
"This is just one more example of the Hannaford Charitable Foundation investing in Maine's economy and in Maine's future," said YCCC President Charles Lyons. "We thank them very much for their continued support."
John Rainone, executive director of the YCCC Foundation said, "YCCC would not be able to continue to be the success it is without the continued support of individuals, businesses, and private foundations. We are extremely grateful for Hannaford's active support of the development and life of the college."
The purpose of the York County Community College Foundation is to promote, encourage and support, financial and otherwise, all educational activities of YCCC.
York County Community College, established in 1994, is one of seven community colleges in the Maine Community College System. The college enrolls approximately 1,000 students in associate degree and transfer programs and over 1,500 individuals in non-credit continuing education and professional development areas.
