Impeachment meeting this Thursday in Ogunquit
OGUNQUIT - A regional meeting on issues related to a national movement on impeachment will be held at the Dunaway Center Auditorium, 14 School St., Ogunquit, this Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m.
Co-sponsoring the event are the Freedom Rousers of Southern Maine and the Maine Campaign to Impeach of York County.
The event is open to the public without charge and free parking is available directly behind the Dunaway Center.
The town meeting format will be the cornerstone of the evening, allowing ample opportunity for discussion among speakers and those attending.
Attorney John Kaminski, chairman of Maine Lawyers for Democracy, a group whose mission is stated as promoting "the democratic process and the free exercise of Constitutional rights and liberties," will discuss the issues involved in the impeachment process.
He will also discuss House Resolution 333, a bill to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, filed by Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
Deborah Gordon of Maine Impeach will provide a brief history of the http://www.maineimpeach.org/ campaign, which delivered petitions to impeach President George W. Bush and Cheney with 11,233 names to the State House on May 31.
The Freedom Rousers of Southern Maine are a group of citizens concerned about erosion of civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.
