STANDING ROOM ONLY. The York High School Choral Music Department performed to standing-room-only crowds in two concerts at St. Christopher Church last week, winning praise from parents, teachers, the School Committee and community members alike. Members of the School Committee praised the students and YHS Choral Music Director Rob Westerberg for presenting a performance that included music from multiple cultures sung in a variety of languages.

Debra Lavoie of Portland recently accepted the position of marketing and college relations coordinator at York County Community College in Wells. Debra was formerly the director of admissions and marketing at Catherine McAuley High School in Portland.

With just a few weeks remaining in her tenure as principal of Coastal Ridge Elementary School, Jane Stephenson was honored Monday evening by her current and past students and their parents, as well as York School Department faculty and staff and members of the community.
The Maine Development Foundation has recently announced members of the 2007-2008 Leadership Maine program.
Almost two decades after his own graduation from York High School, Maine’s first astronaut is scheduled to return to town this Thursday to speak to the Class of 2007.
