YCCC employee named to Leadership Maine program
Rhyan Romaine
WELLS - The Maine Development Foundation has recently announced members of the 2007-2008 Leadership Maine program.
Rhyan Romaine, grants coordinator at York County Community College, was selected based on her personal concern about the future economic health and quality of life of Maine and a commitment to take actions which shape that future; demonstrated capacity to lead at the statewide level, and a record of accomplishment within an organization and community endeavors.
Leadership Maine is committed to building a broader pool of statewide leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks to shape the future of Maine. The program educates its participants about what drives Maine's economy, teaches them about different leadership styles and sets up a laboratory experience where each participant learns more about working collaboratively on a statewide issue.
Each member of Leadership Maine is charged with creating an action plan on how they will make a difference at the end of their yearlong journey.
"In my judgment, Rhyan exemplifies all that we seek in the next generation of Maine's leaders," said YCCC President Dr. Charles Lyons. "She has all the hallmarks of strong leadership."
This year's class represents 13 of 16 counties and was selected through a competitive application process. Participants in this prestigious program include community activists, business, government, education, health care and non-profit leaders. Alumni include former Maine Gov. Angus S. King, Jr., and Attorney General G. Steven Rowe.
