Katharine Stiles
YORK - Katharine S. Stiles, 89, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, in Pine Point Center for Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Scarborough.
She was born, July 29, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Raymond and Hester (Kent) Sandford. She grew up in Floral Park, Long Island, and graduated from Sewanhaka High School in 1935. She had worked for Chase Bank in New York City.
She moved to Maine in the 1940s along with her husband Richard R. Stiles. She then worked for Maine National Bank in York Village and later at the information center in York. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in York Beach.
She leaves a son, Robert K. Stiles and his wife, Judith R. Stiles, of Kittery; a granddaughter, Laura Greenlaw of Richmond, Va., and a great-granddaughter, Alexandra Greenlaw.
Her husband, Richard R. Stiles, and a brother, Kent Sandford, predeceased her.
Funeral services and burial will be private in the First Parish Cemetery, York. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, http://www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com/, is directing arrangements.
