Bicycle Coalition of Maine presents safety training for local police
YORK and OGUNQUIT - The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is offering a four-hour training course for police officers covering such topics as a review of Maine laws pertaining to bicycling, helmet use and fit, rules of the road for both bicyclists and motorists and bike-specific issues in accident reporting and reconstruction.
The course is free to police departments under a contract between the Maine Department of Transportation and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
This year's training sessions will take place at six locations throughout the state, including York and Ogunquit.
The dates for the local training sessions are June 19 from 8 a.m. until noon in York and June 29 from noon to 4 p.m. in Ogunquit.
Advocating bicycling safety, education and access in Maine since 1992, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine is working to make Maine accessible and safe for all residents and visitors so they may comfortably and responsibly bicycle.
