As director of York’s Wild Animal Kingdom, Mika Nurmikko said that about eight years ago he started taking a different approach to taking care of the 100-plus species that live on the zoo's 85 acres. From the town’s growth cap to how to address an expected 100-percent increase in the cost of curbside garbage collection, the Board of Selectmen has plenty of work to do in the months ahead. The work has begun. Under sunny skies at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22, scores of local residents and their guests assembled at the town’s new Berwick Road transfer station to celebrate the opening of the facility.
