"Art Videos at the Gallery" begins July 11
OGUNQUIT - Ogunquit Performing Arts and the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative have announced the opening of the sixth season of "Art Videos at the Gallery."
The season will begin on July 11 with the showing of "Who Gets To Call It Art: Henry Geldzahler" at 7:30 p.m. at the gallery's location on Bourne Lane at Shore Road.
Admission is free and, as in previous years, there will be discussion about the film and the artist before and after the showing by renowned Ogunquit artist Norman West.
The films are shown on a full wall-size screen with quality projection equipment provided to Ogunquit Performing Arts (OPA) by Kennebunk Savings Bank.
According to OPA Chairman Stuart Nudelman, "This is an opportunity to learn about a new artist, or gather further information about an artist familiar to you. The Barn Gallery is closed at this time, but you will have the opportunity to see the two rooms that have been renovated as part of the Gallery's $400,000 renovation program and view the popular exhibition of regional artists in the open juried show at the Barn Gallery."
The series will continue during the following eight Wednesday evenings with Dziga Vertov's "Black & White (Man with a Movie Camera)" on July 18; "Andy Goldsworthy - Rivers & Tides, Working with Time" on July 25; "Sketches of Frank Gehry Sydney Pollack" on Aug. 1; "George Seurat: Point Counterpoint" on Aug. 8; "New Ways of Seeing the Cubist Revolution" on Aug. 15; "Chagall" on Aug. 22; "Georgia O'Keeffe" on Aug. 29, and "Girl with a Pearl Earring" on Sept. 5.
