Hospice of York turns 28

YORK - Hospice of York recently celebrated its 28th year of service with a gathering at Cap'n Simeon's Galley in nearby Kittery Point

Following the celebration, officers and members-at-large for the 2007 to 2008 year were announced as including President Hannah Rothermel, Vice President Lu Shurkus, Secretary Jayne Lilly and Treasurer Karen Lynge and members Barbara Boschert, Julie Perreault, Bette Garrett, Ronna Frazier, Ralph Thompson, Cynthia Wallace, Dr. Henry Guertin-Ouellette and Ray deMars.

Marilyn Horan was elected as a member of the Certification Committee.

Hospice of York Director Dee Bickmore presented certificates of appreciation to Barbara Perkins, who has been a tireless volunteer for 20 years, and to Dennis and Ronnie Whall, who are retiring after 12 years as grief support group facilitators.

All three, Bickmore stated, have served with devotion, kindness and innovation, and deserve the respect and praise of those many people whose lives they have touched.

Bickmore said they have set high standards for others to follow.
