The Music Scene...
HARMONICA BLOWOUT. This weekend catch not one, but two bluesmen who know how to plan a mean harmonica at Inn on the Blues in York Beach. On Friday, blues legend James Montgomery, pictured here, a dynamic performer who learned the blues firsthand from the masters including James Cotton, John Lee Hooker and Jr. Wells while growing up in Detroit, stops by for a treat of his inimitable harmonica playing combined with an incredibly energetic live show. Then on Saturday night, Rockin' Jake, five-time winner of Off Beat Magazine's coveted award for best harmonica player, brings his original sound, a hybrid of second line, swamp funk, blues and zydeco. He and his band pour out their souls in every performance with high energy and electricity which consistently brings the audience to their feet.
