A PIECE OF HISTORY FOR SALE. Cape Neddick’s renowned Cragmere estate is now being offered for sale exclusively by Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty at $4.395 million. Cragmere was designed by architect Antoine Dorticos in 1895, and built as a summer cottage for the prominent Connarroe family. Completely restored in 1997, current owners Chris and Liz Crane succeeded in maintaining the historical integrity of the home while incorporating modern conveniences. In 1999, Cragmere received the Maine Preservation Award presented by Gov. Angus King. The estate’s renovations include 10 steel beams for stability as well as new plumbing, electrical, heating and septic systems, just to name a few. Cragmere served as the Old York Historical Society’s third Decorator Show House in 1992, was featured in a kitchen tour in 2004 and was one of five Shore Road properties included in the recent Garden Conservancy Tour. Eileen Roberts, owner of Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty, described Cragmere as “an exceptional property. The setting and the home itself create an unparalleled combination. We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to represent this unique property.” For more about Cragmere, visit www.AnneErwin.com. Courtesy photo
