THE SHOW HOUSE PREVIEW GALA
July 13 at 6 p.m. promises to be the start of the most magical night of the summer! Join Old York for this annual event where you can meet the designers who transformed the historic estate, Mayfair, into the Decorator Show House while partaking of delectable fine food and dancing to the music of Straight Lace. All proceeds benefit the Museums of Old York, and reservations are required. Tickets are $60 per person or Patron Level tickets are available at $250 per couple. For more information call 363-4974.
THE DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE
Old York is proud to have the 1903 estate, Mayfair, which was built by the Silversmith H. Blanchard Dominick, as its 2007 Decorator Show House. Featuring dozens of spaces, each recently restored and decorated by talented and imaginative interior designers, the event runs July 14 through Aug. 11, Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays until 7 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The Show House is closed on Tuesdays. Admission is $20 and tickets are available at the door or by calling 363-4974.
MONDAY EVENING RECEPTION
On July 23 learn why "If You Can't Hide It, Decorate It." Internationally renowned interior designer Mario Buatta will be giving an informal lecture and slide show featuring houses he has decorated for Barbara Walters, Malcolm Forbes, Henry Ford II, Mariah Carey, Billy Joel, The White House guest house - Blair House in Washington, D.C., and others. His talk will be informative and include amusing anecdotes about his experiences relating to his profession. Old York is pleased and honored to present this program, which will be held at the York Golf and Tennis Old Clubhouse, Organug Road, with cocktail hour at 5 p.m. and the lecture to follow from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 and includes the lecture and hors d'oeuvres and admission to the Show House, which guests are encouraged to visit prior to the lecture. A cash bar will be available.
LUNCHEON LECTURE SERIES
July 25 will feature "Silver in the Golden Age." Join Barbara McLean Ward, Ph.D., director and curator of the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden in Portsmouth, N.H., and museum studies faculty at Tufts University, for a slide show and presentation on the prevailing taste in American silver between 1860 and 1930. She will discuss the success of the silver industry during this time period and show examples of work by H. Blanchard Dominick, who built Mayfair in 1903, Reed & Barton, Gorham and Tiffany.
The series continues with Paul Tukey's Safe Kids, Safe Pets, Safe Lawns - Creating Organic Landscapes" on Aug. 1 and "The Art of Dressing Well" on Aug. 8.
The events will be held at the Stage Neck Inn at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $45 and includes the lecture, lunch and Show House tour.
MORNING ADVENTURES
Are you one of the "Colonial Chefs in Training?" Come help the tavern mistress prepare lunch for hungry travelers on July 12. Make a hearty "dinner" for you and your fellow workers, tour the old tavern and play some games. This program is for ages 8 to 12.
Programs for ages 5 to 7 and for ages 8 to 12 continue through the summer and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Prices are $10 for members and $13 for non-members and reservations are required. For all the details, call 363-4974 or visit http://www.oldyork.org/.
HISTORICAL WALKING TOUR
Join Old York on July 12 for an historical overview of the architectural and cultural changes that have evolved since the late 19th century while walking through the historic York Beach village. Your guide will use historic photographs from the Old York Historical Society collections illustrating the "then and now." The tour lasts about an hour. Meet at the Gazebo in Ellis Park at Short Sands Beach at 10 a.m. The tour is $5 per person, but free to Old York members.

See Jeff Kellar/Judy LaBrasca in the Main Level Gallery and Peter Brown/Robin Cody in the Dock Level Gallery through July 15. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
