York playwright featured in "Late Night Confessions"

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - The "Late Night Confessions" series comes to life on the Players' Ring stage from July 20 to 29 with three one-act plays of loss and love.

Shows are on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 9:30 p.m. Due to adult themes, these shows are for mature audiences only.

Award-winning York author Michael Kimball's play "Say No More" brings fire to the set with the theme of taboo confession.

Two couples, having dinner on New Year's Eve, begin noticing the awkward silences that punctuate their conversation. When they make a sport of seeing who can create the longest awkward silence, the game of confession turns brutal.

Robert and Susan are played by Christine E. Frydenborg and Tim Dargon and their closest friends, Eric and Denise, are played by Pedro O'Toole and Sarah Kennedy.

O'Toole and Kennedy also star in the first play of the evening, as reunited lovers Eliza and David, who meet at a class reunion after 20 years in "I Remember You" by Seacoast playwright Susan West Chamberlin, whose work is appearing for the first time at The Players' Ring.

The night of surprises concludes with acclaimed playwright David Mauriello's "One Great Big Light." A chance encounter between unnamed characters, played by Mary Shapiro, who appeared in the play's premiere, and Richard DiMario, a Player's Ring favorite, leads to emotional discoveries and the possibility of renewal through shared experiences.

These evenings of one-act plays are directed by Rachael Burr Canavan.

Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members, with student and senior tickets $8 for members and $10 for non members. Reservations are suggested and may be made by calling (603) 436-8123. For more information about the Player's Ring visit http://www.playersring.org/.
