Rice Public Library offers summer fun for everyone
KITTERY - From adult programs to children's events, there is plenty to do at the Rice Public Library.
Adult Summer Reading Program
Summer reading programs aren't just for kids - adult readers are now eligible for prizes too! Read three books and enter our raffle for some great prizes. Pick up an entry form at either the Rice or Taylor buildings of the Rice Public Library, Kittery.
Family Program
Join us for Tune Time on Friday, July 27, at 3:30 p.m. Tune Time is a 45-minute program for children and their families. It features original music written and performed by Anya Rose. Children have the opportunity to participate by acting out roles from the music. Acting accompaniment is provided by Julian Epps. The program is held in the Lower Level of the Rice Building at 8 Wentworth St.
Get a Clue at Your Library
Children of all ages are invited to our "Get a Clue at Your Library" summer reading program. Children can earn prizes by completing 10 reading hours. There will be weekly riddles and quizzes to solve and activity sheets. Pick up a summer reading program folder at the Taylor Building at 2 Walker St.
Summer Storytimes
Come join us for a story or two and special craft every Tuesday in July at 10 a.m. on the lawn next to Rice Building, weather permitting. All children and their parents are invited!
Reality is Illusion
Peter Boie, Magician for Non-Believers, will perform this Thursday, July 19, at 6 p.m. Peter travels the country as a professional magician, weaving into his performance the story of how his local library empowered him to change his life. His interest in magic began at the early age of 11, after discovering some books on magic in his library. Peter's show is a combination of award-winning sleight-of-hand, movement, high-energy music and magic. He mingles among audience members and performs miracles right under their noses and even in their hands!
"SO GLAD!" Concert
Marcus Gale will perform on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m. Children and their parents are invited to laugh, sing and dance along with Marcus and his puppet friends. This concert is an earth-shaking, spine-tingling, rollicking and frolicking interactive performance that creates smiles and laughter for children and adults of all ages. Marcus sings, hums, plays guitar, jokes around with his puppet friends, conducts kid interviews and leads the whole family in the so "SO GLAD!" dance, a craze soon to overtake the nation. His original songs on waking up, playtime, riding in the car, best friends and the family dog make a kid's day special. His positive upbeat messages, warm humor and
celebration of the simple things in life make you feel..."SO GLAD!"
Book Time with Ronald McDonald
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. it's book time! Come greet Ronald McDonald at the Rice Public Library. Ronald‘s special, interactive performance offers kids and families the opportunity to take part in a fun-filled literacy event with magic, music, games and reading fun. Kittery McDonald's is sponsoring this free 30-minute performance to encourage summer readers to keep books an active part of every day.
