CALL FOR FISH! Heartwood College of Art's newest fundraiser, "The Fish Art Project" features "fishing licenses" that allow artists to bring home a wooden fish - or a "net" with a set of four - to paint, adorn or disguise in any way they wish. The artists' subjects are being auctioned online through Dec. 12 by cMarket, Inc., a Cambridge, Mass., organization focused on supporting nonprofits. A portion of the proceeds returns to the artists, and the balance goes to support Heartwood College programs. Heartwood plans to display schools of the fish in area restaurants and at the college itself. The first school of fish to be auctioned may include work of many well-known area artists including Stuart Nudelman, Berri Kramer, James Dochtermann and Rosalind Fedeli and new fish are swimming into Heartwood daily! The 2007 Human Rights Watch Traveling Film Festival will be held from Nov. 11 to 18. The festival is being hosted for the sixth consecutive season by SPACE, a nonprofit exhibition and performance venue in downtown Portland. The 10th Annual Mary's Walk and Kerrymen Pub Road Race is now underway with early-bird registration. In its nine-year history, the event, which is slated for March 16 in Saco, has raised over $900,000 for Maine-based cancer research, education and patient support. Named in honor of Mary Kerry Libby, who lost her battle with cancer in March 1997, the event has grown tremendously each year. In 2007 as many as 2,000 people participated in either the 2.5-mile walk or 5K run, and another 200 volunteered. Participants Needed for USM Study on Adult Children Caring for Aged Parents. University of Southern Maine Assistant Professor of Nursing Bonnie Cashin Farmer is launching a new study that will lead to better understanding of what would help adult children care for aging and failing parents. Participants are needed to attend a one-time, two-hour group discussion with other caregivers at which they will share their experiences. Participants need to be providing, or have provided in the past, some level of care, for an aging and failing parent. The care provided need not to have been in the caregiver's home. Coffee Shop at the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 a.m., serving regular or decaf coffee, pastries, Congdon's and Dunkin' Donuts, and their own blueberry muffins for $1.50. Thursday's Coffee Club occasionally has a guest speaker.

Hospice of York's Living with Loss is a bereavement support group offered free of charge, and you need not have had a loved one serviced by Hospice. Hospice of York encourages pre-registration; however, you may attend any or all of the classes as you see fit.
